As a 'reluctant bride' I imagined myself ditching all the usual bridal prep-work that others get worked up about.
I pictured myself casually sauntering down the aisle on the day, stress free, looking hot to trot in a kind of 'I woke up like this' (and then touched up my eyeliner maybe a little) kind of way.
And everything would just fall into place.
Well, I was wrong.
I have nine months until the big day and the need for significant self-improvement has already kicked in. Seas of photographers, video cameras and over-critical extended family members are already filling my dreams.
Suddenly, the need to be perfect is my crushing reality, so now the reluctant bride is incredibly reluctantly embarking on a schedule of self-betterment.
Here's my current checklist:
1. Get fit and tone up. Yup, I've gone full Kayla Itsines 12-week Bikini Body guide.
I’m currently on week 7 and the 30 minute at-home workouts are intense. I’m starting to notice some good results, but want to see more results before I go to get measured for my wedding dress.
2. Teeth Straightening. My front teeth have been a bit skewed for a few years now. I used to be proud of the fact that one of my front teeth looked like it could open beers for everyone at a party.
Big error. Huge. I am now fully on board with the idea of beautifully straight teeth. My orthodontist, Hampsted Ortho, suggested that I just get braces behind the front eight teeth of the top row, as this is that main problem area that I need fixed.
